If you know your survey site coordinates, enter them manually in decimal degrees using WGS84 Map Datum. Use the minus sign for latitudes south of the equator and longitudes west of the Prime Meridian to 180 degrees.
If you do not know your survey site coordinates, click the “Map Location” tab to use the map to zoom into your survey site and drop the pin on the map to fall within your survey dive site in the water (not on land or the beach). Ensure you zoom in as much as possible to ensure data accuracy.

It's been interesting revisiting Mordialloc each month to Dive Against Debris. We have found that, for the most part, under the pier itself is now relatively clear of marine debris. However, out in the surrounding rocky reefs, there is still much to be cleaned up - and the discovery of clearly recently discarded items means there is still work to do in this area about re-educating people not to just throw their trash off the pier.
Fishermen are always present at this pier, hence why there is always such a high percentage of fishing lines, lures, rods and other various fishing paraphernalia. The high quantities of beverage cans and glasses is clearly due to people not bothering to put their drinks in the bin, and instead choosing to throw them off the pier. There was a range of very old bottles to clearly much newer bottles and cans, which shows that there is still some work to be done with education about throwing rubbish into the sea.
We always have to reset our password when logging in to MyOcean - it never recognizes our password!
Live ammunition. Eeek. Couldn't put this in a normal rubbish bin!
Moderate winds and some rain, otherwise generally fair conditions.

Alot of this came from the rather new area on the far northern end of the rocky outcrop. Alot of the trash in that area is older and larger than the smaller pieces I tend to find on the southern end/beach facing area.
Actually I did this survey almost a month ago, but left to visit my family in the US the day after and returned this weekend to log the info I marked down on the survey card.
I found this wad of fishing line clung to the side of the reef. I did not notice the crab entangled when I initially removed it. The crab was alive and active, but one of its hind legs were missing. I removed the line from the crab and released back into the ocean.
