Food wrappers from picnics etc gets blown into the sea and caught in corals etc.

This was a part of the Earth Day event - Island Community Event.
Weather patterns on the island, moving currents bring marine debri offshore to the coast. Possibly construction in nearby bays and fishing boats dropping off the garbage in the water.

Fathoms Free organised a marine debris clearance weekend at Brixham, Devon.
Although we removed a massive amount of marine debris from this area, we hardly touch the sheer volume of fishing line and weights at Hopes Nose. It will take a very long time to completely clear this area as it is a very popular fishing spot. There is also a problem with ghost fishing pots around the Breakwater and the harbour. We retrieved 8 pots during one of the dives.
