We are coordinating with the local authorities to re-attach mooring buoys/markers to mark the borders of the reef knowing that it's a marine protected zone. And hopefully minimize fishing in the area. We understand and consider the current situation, with lack of jobs or sources of livelihood due to ongoing pandemic, the local communities resort to fishing in the said protected area for food consumption.
Nothing in particular.
This survey/cleanup effort was done in cooperation with the Bantay Dagat ("Sea watchers"; locals policing the protected area) - Team 3, Zamboanguita LGU. They provided surface support and the boat the divers used. The data collected will be submitted to the Mayor's office and the Coastal Resource Management department of MENRO [Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer].
All were regular and common domestic and fishing-related trash/garbage.
