The ocean has always held so much for me. Even when I was a little girl, watching the surf roll in, exploring rock pools or splashing in the waves, the ocean mesmerized me.
Even now when I stand at our local headland I feel overwhelmed by its beauty, its vastness and its incredible strength. It has helped me gain perspective in times of trouble and it’s allowed me to explore a whole new world which I’m privileged enough to help protect every time I go to work.

As divers, we share a special connection with our ocean planet and therefore hold a natural affinity to want to protect the marine environment. This past 10 days, Project AWARE has been on the frontlines participating at the IUCN World Parks Congress in Sydney to represent and highlight all the awesome actions that divers across the globe take to help protect our ocean planet.

The Project AWARE New York Marathon Team not only performed an incredible feat of athleticism and endurance in freezing temperatures - but together raised more than $22,000 to support global shark protection.
