Dive Against Debris December 2015

updates

Big Blue had another successful Dive Against Debris this weekend. Eight divers collected 223kg of rubbish from the sea floor along the seafront in Port Vila. Thanks to Richard, Russell, Georgina, Jan, Any, Ray, Luaki and Sam who were the underwater crew. Thanks also to Freddie, Erin and David on the boat and to Christina and Michelle on land.

We picked up the usual culprits - aluminium cans, glass drinks bottle, plastic food wrappers and plastic bags. There was also some items from boat wreckage after the cyclone earlier in the year. We found fiber glass pieces, wooden fragments, a large aluminium engine cover and a flare. There hasn't been a Dive Against Debris where we haven't recovered an umbrella and Saturday's dive was no exception. We also found a rather large coat hanger!
