(West Branch) Susquehanna River Clean-up - 2016

River Clean-up
updates

Apologies for taking so long to post about last years clean-up results. We have been extremely busy here at Sunken Treasure Scuba Center and have not had the chance to do much other than business lately. The two 2016 clean-ups (July and Sept.) focused on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River in McElhattan, PA. We had a total of 120 volunteers between both groups for our 3rd major River Clean-up! The objective is to remove debris from the river before they have a chance to enter the ocean.

We had a variety of help from Lock Haven University students, Penn Tech student divers, dedicated community members, and local divers. The collaborative effort done by these amazing volunteers made it possible to remove tons (literally) of debris yet again from the Susquehanna River.

This year, volunteers removed 8.8 tons of debris from the river. That is 17,720 lbs.! in total, 662 tires were removed. Thanks to all of you who helped make this years clean-up possible. Excellent job!
