Fundraiser’s supporting Project AWARE around the globe have taken on the Tough Mudder in 2017. From the United Kingdom, Australia and throughout the United States Project AWARE’s first global Tough Mudder team have been making mudd matter by committing to raising funds and awareness in support of ocean protection.

As ocean lovers, we know that tackling two of the biggest threats facing our ocean – marine debris and over-exploitation of shark and ray species – is a real challenge. Our muddy super heroes have challenged themselves physically and have raised critical funds and awareness for the plight of our ocean and its wildlife.

Tough Mudder is not a race - it’s a challenge. These ocean advocates took on over 10 miles (18 km) of mud and obstacles, to raise vital funds to protect our ocean. Obstacles with fearsome names like "The Pyramid Scheme", "Everest 2.0", "The Blockness Monster" and the dreaded "Arctic Enema"! (Think about sliding down into a tunnel of ice bath and dumping ice cubes out of your tank top on the other side!)

On Saturday 4 November 2017, the 9 runners of Team Ocean were ready to go all out at the So Cal Tough Mudder at Lake Elsinore, California, USA. Together they learnt the value of training, the benefit of bringing salt to alleviate cramping and why you should not go out drinking the night before a Tough Mudder!

Team Ocean is topping the fundraising leader board and has raised over $2,500 and counting! Endless thanks to the runners and donors making this event unforgettable!
