Mseni Beach Cleanup

updates

Finally we had some spare time to go through all the debris collected during the Mseni Beach Cleanup.

The following items were found and removed from the beach:

A heavy duty rope, approximately 12 meters long weighing 7 kg

A metal 20 liter paint drum, half full of dried green paint, weighing approximately 11 kg

A 5 liter plastic bucket

4 plastic slip on shoes

2 plastic straws

10 glass bottles and numerous broken bottles and glass pieces (6 kg)

24 plastic bottles

9 pieces of polystirene and upholstery foam

Line, rope and fishing line approximately 1 kg

37 plastic bags

132 plastic bottle caps

Half of a welding helmet and 3 pieces of plastic covers coming from motors

Rusted beverage cans and metal (1 kg)

2 plastic bucket lids, a plastic flower pot and numerous other pieces of broken plastic containers (434 pieces weighing approximately 5 kg)

Paper and cardboard (wet weight approximately 3 kg)

All in all the beach cleanup can be seen as a huge success and I would like to thank everyone that participated in the effort.
