updates

September 19 2015 was the International Coastal Clean Up Day, the event was organized by Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron 609th with Boracay Foundation Inc. and Municipal of Malay. The event was sponsored by Seven Seas Hotel & Residences for the printing of Certificate of Recognition for every participants.

The organizers expected 1500 participants for 2015 but the turn out were 1800 for those who registered at the counter. Due to overwhelm response of the event, there were many who didn’t register themselves. We expect more than 2000 participants were present for the event.

A total distance of 17km were covered in the whole of Boracay Island in the following beaches:

  • White Sand Beach (Angol Point – Boracay Terraces Resort)
  • Tambisaan Beach
  • Ligutan Beach
  • Bulabog Beach
  • Ili-Iligan Beach
  • Puka Beach
  • Diniwid
  • Underwater Clean Up (Angol Point – Station 2)

A total of 360 bags of trash were collected with an average of 6kg per bag and estimated 2,150kg or 4,730lbs of trash collected. All participants were given a Certificate of Recognition sponsored by Seven Seas Hotel & Residences C/O LT Alex Alamsya PCGA. The said event is organized by CAPT Peter Tay, a PADI Master Instructor.
