Impromptu Dive Against Debris at Cayo Blanco

Dive Against Debris Cayo Blanco, Vieques
updates

Last February I tagged along one of our dive tours to just relax and have some fun(also wanted to test out a new Full Face Mask) and to my surprise I ended up finding some Marine Debris at one of our healthiest reefs in all of Vieques. It was minimal, but still to my surprise. Cayo Blanco is a little island to the north of Vieques, it has be about 300 meters long at most, but the reef you find on the west side of it, is amazing. Combinations of soft and hard coral, Spotted Eagle Rays swimming by, Nurse Sharks in the nooks and Green Morays. I started by finding a long fishing line tangled all the way from the deeper reef all the way to the shallow area and from there I ended, picking up a few more things. I believe that line was dragged by underwater currents from another point of origin, found also a few cans and some dive weights. Anyways I am glad we were there to dive, since we do not get to it very often. Remember that every dive is a Dive Against Debris, even if you do not find any debris. It is good to keep track of the areas you dive to monitor the progress.
