Charlotte Bedford - Marine Biologist

Charlotte Bedford
updates

Charlotte Bedford - I am originally from the UK where I achieved a first class degree in Marine Biology from the University of Liverpool. Since graduating, I have set on a journey to safeguard our oceans, dedicating myself to marine conservation through various experiences around the world.

In 2023, I embarked on a marine conservation apprenticeship in the Seychelles. During this time, I conducted different surveys on megafauna, fish, coral reefs and nudibranchs. As part of my role, I managed the coral reef program, guiding and mentoring new interns through presentations and training dives. Recognizing the importance of data management, I designed a new excel spreadsheet and filing system for coral survey data, enhancing our ability to analyse and utilize critical information for our conservation efforts.

Prior to this, I completed a marine conservation internship in Egypt. Here, I conducted daily turtle and coral reef surveys across various locations along the Red Sea, contributing to essential data to support marine conservation, protection and biodiversity. Utilizing citizen science software such as Turtles, iNaturalist and CoralWatch, I submitted valuable data to global databases, furthering scientific research and conservation initiatives.

As a PADI Specialty Instructor at Assava Dive Resort, I want to promote the protection of the marine environment whilst sharing my passion for diving. Looking to develop your knowledge of the marine ecosystem, and work alongside the Assava Team to protect it!
