Battle Of the Sexes: Dive Against Debris Style

Blue Corner Dive Master Candidates Diving Against Debris
updates

Today Myself and Rosie, both PADI Master Instructors here at Blue Corner Dive, took the PADI Divemaster Candidates for the dives to complete their Project AWARE Dive Against Debris Specialty.

The teams today were divided into Boys versus Girls. An age-old challenge that got everyone very excited AND a lot competitive. There was a lot of chatter and jeering between the teams while buddy checks were completed. The challenge had been set; we would be battling for debris supremacy OFF the reef. There was an opportunity to win in two categories; 1. Most number of items, and 2. Most weight.

After a 55 minute dive it was time to head back to the dive shop for the final count, and here is how it played out

1.  Most Number of items

  • Girls: 179
  • Boys: 322

2. Weight of Garbage

  • Girls: 14 kg
  • Boys: 20 kg

So for this challenge it was a boys for a win, but lets be honest, removing 34 KG of rubbish from the Coral Reefs of Bali the clear winner was our reefs today.

A great day out in the sun, laughing and doing our part to Keep our reefs clean.

Better luck next challenge ladies!
