Assava Beach & Underwater Clean-up Dives

Beach Clean up in Chalok Bay
updates

This week we are focussed on " PADI AWARE" and have conducted daily Beach Clean-ups at Chalok Baan Kao Bay where we are located.
Due to covid we had a few resorts located on the bay that have become uninhabited and have lacked attention to ensuring the area in front of these resorts are being cleaned. The Assava Dive Team and guests took initiative and we conducted daily beach clean-ups, where we collected an abundance of trash that consisted of mostly plastic, rope, fishing line and netting. Thank you to all who helped!

During our daily dive trips, and especially when instructors have been teaching the PADI open water courses - we have introduced the Dive Against Debri presentation, and informing our student divers of the importance of removing trash from dive sites. So on every dive this week we have collected any items that should not be underwater. Most items found included plastic bottles, fishing lines, and small plastic fragments which may have accumulated in these reef areas due to the recent storms that transported trash to these bays including Hin Gnam, Aow Leuk and Tantote Bay. In our daily dive briefings we mention to the students and divers that certain items should be removed to prevent our aquatic marine life from becoming entangled or eating plastic that can be harmful to their digestive systems.

Join us at Assava Dive Resort, and learn to dive while also learning more about how to protect our Ocean, Reefs and marine life.

Thank you for all your support.
