38.5kgs of mostly Fishing Net at Hin Wong Bay

It's the ECO IDC at Davy Jones Locker on Koh tao again.
This time, Jasmine took time out of her skills presentations and hard study, to help clean up our adopted Dive Site, Hin Wong Bay. We offer the Dive Against Debris Instructor Specialty as part of the IDC.
Six of us jumped in, bags and scissors in hand, not expecting what we found. We swam no more than 15 metres from the boat and found a coral bombie, covered in fishing net and rice bags.
It took around 50 minutes to clear the huge table coral, and smaller corals surrounding it. A few plastic bottles and a tyre were also found. But the net was the biggest problem. This site has a lot of old net and line covering it, so we try to go regularly. A total of 38.5 kgs was removed.
Andrew organised the sorting of the Marine Debris and the recording for Project Aware He has also decided to become a Dive Against Debris Specialty Instructor after seeing what a difference we can make. Plus, he found a nice pair of denim shorts on the ocean floor which he is going to wash and wear on special occasions!!
Great job Jasmine, Andrew, Monique, Ta Buddy, Udi and Hannah. Keep up the good work.
