When Winners Emerge: Scavenger Hunt Spans the Globe

Project AWARE News

Project AWARE's Underwater Scavenger Hunt has just wrapped up and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. June and July gave way to an incredible show of support from Project AWARE divers as they worked to clean up their favorite dive sites and have a little fun while they did it.

We’re reviewed the underwater debris data submitted on our site and first place goes to  Sarah Wormald in Bali, a diver who pledged to Dive Against Debris every day for two weeks in July. After receiving our "Trash is Treasure" newsletter, she started organizing her contribution to Dive Against Debris. Sarah has won the ultimate Scubapro Diver Duffle Bag packed with fins, mask, snorkel, boots and gloves from Scubapro's new SUB GEAR range.

Second place is awarded to the group 13 Dreaming Dolphins based in Moscow, Russia. This group of divers has a flare for the dramatic. They even organized a theme dive called "Old Navy Day" in which they dressed up and celebrated everything navy-related. Their enthusiasm for the ocean, conservation and their community is why we love checking in on their dive activities and My Ocean profile updates. This group has won the latest IC14Intova Digital Camera with Waterproof housing -- perfect for taking underwater pictures.

As for third place, we have a tie!

Winner Galianot only caught our attention with her data, she wowed us with her profile picture. Galia is a diver based in Israel and in her profile photo, she has a piece of marine debris in each hand as she dives. Way to show your support, Galia!

Another third place prize goes to the Bubbles Dive Centre in Malta. This dive centre began as a vision between a husband and wife team. The data they logged was from their first Dive Against Debris event and their results were even covered by their local newspaper. Well done!

Both our third place winners have won a Project AWARE goodie bag including a mask strap, BCD clip and other gifts.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the hunt -- this contest is now closed. All the best to our Scavenger Hunt winners! So? What do you think? Should we do it again next year?
