Diving Leisure London Runs for Marine Conservation

Community Actions

On Sunday 15th July, divers from Diving Leisure London (DLL) swapped their fins for trainers to support marine conservation as part of one of their popular dive club events.

In a bid to raise critical funds to support Project AWARE's Sharks in Peril and Marine Debris campaigns, Jennifer and Alex Griffin together with a team of seven divers took on the challenge to complete 90K.

"As divers, we thought it would be great to do a DLL club event to raise money for Project AWARE” said Jennifer Griffin who organised the event.

"Despite reading somewhere that scuba diving burns more calories than swimming, the team at Diving Leisure London have found that the high bacon intake of UK diving tends to offset the benefits. So when we saw the 'ditch your fins & grab your trainers' campaign we saw it as a great opportunity to jog off some dive site burgers and raise money for this amazing charity!" she added.

The fun run took place in Clapham Common, not far from Battersea where Diving Leisure London is located. The event was well attended and the DLL team made quite an impression with their masks, snorkels and Project AWARE branded t-shirt especially designed and printed for the occasion.

Congratulations Diving leisure London and thank you to everyone who have sponsored the team so far. What a great achievement!
