12 divers, 107 kilos of marine debris in one hour!
Have you heard about the Triple Whammy Cleanup? This amazing event does three times the good and happens when you have three resorts who all Dive Against Debris at the same time. Two Fish Divers, Bunaken, Lembeh and Nusa Lembongan collected 246 kilos of marine debris on one day in November. These resorts are dotted throughout some of Indonesia’s best diving spots and the Two Fish team share an important ocean wish for the future.
“WE WISH that we could NOT see debris floating on the surface or tangled around corals or eaten by turtles and whales,” said Nigel Thomas, Two Fish Divers, Indonesia.
“WE WISH that each country would clean up their own ocean and stop waste drifting from their cities. In the meantime it’s up to the family of Project AWARE dive centers that care so much, and we are glad to be part of this,” he added.
What’s your ocean wish this holiday season. If you have a vision for a clean, healthy and abundant ocean planet, please consider a gift to our Ocean Wish Appeal. PADI will match your gift for the ocean dollar for dollar up to $20,000 by December, 31st.
This year you’ve removed more than 40,000kgs of trash from the ocean. A big thanks to all the divers, snorkelers and boat crews involved in Dive Against Debris 2012! Check out Two Fish Divers Triple Whammy Cleanup!
