This Shark Week, we catch up with our friend and conservation partner Jullian Morris to talk about engaging you people in shark conservation. Jullian’s organization Sharks4Kids brings together scientists, educators, conservationists and professional videographers to create a unique opportunity for the next generation to learn why sharks need kids and kids need sharks.

AWARE Week is back! Project AWARE® is partnering up again with PADI® to mobilize the global dive community to be citizen activists for a clean ocean. The second annual AWARE Week will see conservation activities focused on keeping the ocean clean and healthy takes place throughout the week of 14 - 22 September 2019. Ocean lovers around the world are invited to join in the AWARE Week celebrations and act for change.

Scuba divers, in Malapascua, went diving in search of hammerheads. What they found instead left them speechless and eager to take action. The next day they put out an island-wide appeal to the Malapascua dive shops to coordinate a huge ghost net removal effort. Like Project AWARE, citizen science and education are at the heart of what Project Azraq do. Based in Dahab, South Sinai, Project Azraq collaborates with the local diving community to create lasting change through reef monitoring and Dive Against Debris Surveys, amongst other actions. PADI® and Project AWARE® are pleased to announce that the 2nd edition of AWARE Week is scheduled to take place globally the week of September 14-22, 2019. It’s Plastic Free July! Millions of people around the globe are taking on the challenge to go plastic-free for a month, or at least try to reduce everyday single-use plastic; and while many of us are focusing on taking action on land, a dedicated group of debris activists, 431 to be precise, are joining in the challenge with an underwater twist. They are celebrating, with us, their ongoing actions to keep their local dive sites debris-free through Project AWARE's Adopt a Dive Site™ initiative, not only during Plastic Free July* but year-round.
