Dan Charity's spectacular whale shark photo, captured off the coast of Thailand, was awarded winner of the Annual World Oceans Day Oceanic Photo Competition in the Underwater Life category 2017 at a ceremony hosted by the United Nations in New York City. Dan's photo was also nominated in the prestigious National Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year and British Photography Awards contests. The photograph was taken whilst diving the remote reef of 'Sail Rock', which the gentle giant was using as a cleaning station, between the Islands of Ko Pha Ngan and Koh Tao.
