Making Time for a Clean Ocean
A New Partnership to Make Every Second Count Against Plastic Pollution
As communities across the globe prepare to rally together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering our coastlines and waterways during International Coastal Cleanup Day and the AWARE Week 2020 celebrations, we’re excited to announce a new partnership that connects the passion for adventure with the purpose of ocean conservation.
Brought together by a shared mantra “Never Give Up”, Bear Grylls, Luminox, #tide and Project AWARE® are combining their passion and expertise to raise awareness about the global ocean plastic crisis and highlight the urgent need for a circular economy approach to plastic waste.
A report from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation predicts that by 2050, plastic in the ocean will outweigh fish. Not on our watch!
Launching on September 19, the new limited edition Luminox, #tide and Bear Grylls Survival ECO 3700 watch is the first in the Bear Grylls Survival ECO Series. The watch features a case, bezel and strap made from #tide ocean material®. tide is a Swiss company that turns the plastic polluting our ocean into safe, useful products such as textiles, apparel, furniture, watches and more.
Not only does this new watch use 100% recycled ocean-bound plastics, money from the sale of each watch also helps fund efforts in marine conservation. A portion of the retail price from each sale will be donated directly to Project AWARE®’ to empower scuba divers and ocean adventurers around the globe, through citizen science action, to protect underwater environments from the onslaught of marine debris.
When it comes to reducing harm to our wild places and natural environment, we need to be the change we want to see. I am so proud to partner with Luminox on our new Eco Series watch, leading the way towards a future without plastic pollution,
says Bear Grylls, Global Adventurer, TV host and Bestselling Author.
Rugged and good looking, the new Eco Series watch is a great addition to the Bear Grylls Survival collection, and highlights Bear Grylls’ commitment to making every second, every adventure count for the future of our blue planet.
Only 1,500 Survival ECO 3700 watches are being produced so don’t miss the opportunity to grab yourself a treat. Seek adventure. Save the ocean. Make every second count!

#tide ocean SA is a company based in Switzerland. #tide collects plastic waste threatening our oceans and transforms it into high quality granules, yarn and filament. By using what already exists, #tide is closing the circle of plastic production and saving fossil energy. Still in its first operational year, #tide has already processed 150 tons of ocean bound plastic. #tide is compounding with solar power and all transports are carbon neutral.
#tide ocean material® is made from 100% ocean-bound plastic, developed in partnership with Swiss scientists. On five islands in the Andaman Sea off the coast of Thailand, local fishermen are being trained and paid to gather and sort plastic waste. This material is registered, washed, shredded and turned into a granular material that can be injected or spun into a yarn.
Project AWARE® is a global movement for ocean protection powered by a community of adventurers. With a mission to connect the passion for ocean adventure with the purpose of marine conservation, Project AWARE brings together a dedicated team of individuals around the world who share a passion for ocean protection and adventure to secure real and direct environmental victories.
