After completing a successful Debris dive here in August, our team fell in love with this dive site and were keen to return, so come and join Scuba Leeds at Holyhead for a shore dive to collect even more trash in October, while enjoying a dive in the sea.
Scuba Leeds are a 100% AWARE dive centre, so we are donning our fins to make a stand against debris. Join our team and grab a mesh bags to remove any debris we can find in the water. Every piece of trash we remove will be documented and the results submitted to Project AWARE. These dives do make a genuine impact on the health of our oceans.
With several bays to dive and pick from, this is a perfect spot for divers of all experiences. Our last dive here we spotted Wrasse, Cod, Tompot Blenny, Groupers, nudibranchs, and lots of crabs – spider, edible and velvet crabs were found when diving over the kelp and rocks. A max depth of 12m allows for an easy long pleasure dive with plenty to see. The visibility here in August was up to 7m, allowing for easy exploration of all the rocks, nooks and crannies to look for debris and marine life. The local area has made a great effort to keep the beaches clean with lots of bins, but the sea still suffers from debris, especially fishing wire which is a real risk of entanglement of our marine life.
After our dive (and a brew at the café) our team will be completing a beach clean up to stop the debris from entering the water, and to make an even bigger impact on our oceans.
Our debris shore dives are providing to be very popular, with a chance to get out of the quarries and into the sea, while also contributing to cleaning our oceans and coastlines. If you have never completed a shore dive in the UK, come and gain some experience with an Instructor or Divermaster around to assist and offer advice.
To confirm you are joining our team for the day, please contact Ben at the dive centre on 0113 263 8977 or [email protected]. We hope to see you there!
