Project Fari Faru is a one day event, that aims to proactively engage in cleaning the reef, and getting all relevant stakeholders on one platform. It is also to raise awareness about the conditions of the reef area and initiate a program that could provide solutions to the marine debris problem. This event also aims to grow a communal spirit, and the importance of working together and having fun while conserving our environment. We hope that we can achieve this by diminishing the garbage accumulated in the sea surrounding our coasts with the collaboration of dive teams along with a land clean up that will focus on the collection of trash that is littered near the coastal area.

The planned location for the Fari Faru 2016 clean-up is the North West side of Villingili ( Water sports beach ), which is the area used by Dive Schools and for recreational Water Sports.

Fari Faru project hopes to minimize the threats imposed on coral reefs and aquatic life by non-biodegradable waste discarded into the sea. In addition to executing the dive clean-up day, DYM is determined to sustain the effectivs of this project and maintain records of coral growth and their responses to a cleaner marine environment.
