The divers of the Dolphin SCUBA Club, in the interest of connecting and giving back to the Kingston Community, have decided to spearhead a Dive Against Debris at the Gord Edgar Downie Pier in an effort to help clean up the area and protect our environment.

Gord Downie was heavily involved in environmental movements, especially issues concerning water. The Breakwater Park and Pier have benefited of a great renovation project over the last few years for all the residents to enjoy. The site has become very popular during the warm summer days.

It only make sense for the Dolphins to kick off their participation to the AWARE Week by jumping off the Pier and begin its underwater cleaning frenzy.

Diver or not, you are all invited to come help us give back to the environment.

You are a diver, arrive no later than 9am to register and receive the dive and safety briefing. Get ready to go and jump right in the water. Depending on the amount of divers, we will sent teams in waves. Heavy debris will be marked to be picked up by experienced divers and special equipment.

You want to help on the surface? Not a problem! We will need as much volunteers above as there is underwater. Pick up the collection bags from the divers, categorize, weigh, list and properly dispose of all the debris that are taken out

Liability Releases will be filled by all participants.

All debris will be redirected for recycling or proper disposal.

Les plongeurs du Dolphin SCUBA Club, avec l’intention de connecter et de redonner à la communauté de Kingston, ont décidés de mener de front un Plongée Contre les Débris (Dive Against Debris) au Quai Gord Edgar Downie.

Gord Downie était très impliqué dans les mouvements environementaux, spécialement à ce qui à trait à l’eau. Le Parc Breakwater et le Quai ont bénéficiés de grand project de rénovation danes les dernières années, au grand plaisir de tous les résidents. L’endroit est devenu très populaire dans les mois chauds de l’été.

Il est donc logique pour le Dolphin Club de lancer sa participation à la Semaine AWARE en sautant du Quai et commencer sa folie de nettoyage sous l’eau.

Plongeur ou pas, vous êtes tous invités à venir nous aider à redonner à l’environement.

Vous êtes un plongeur: arrivez à 9am, au plus tard, pour recevoir le briefing de sécurité de plongée et de surface. Soyez prêts à entrer dans l’eau tout de suite après. Selon le nombre de participants, il se peut que les plongeurs partent en différentes vagues. Les débris lourds seront marqués pour repérage et des plongeurs expérimenté avec équipement spécialisé seront responsable du levage.

Vous voulez aider en surface? Pas de problème! Nous aurons besoins d’autant de volontaires en surface qu’il y aura de plongeurs sous l’eau. Ramasser les sacs de collecte des plongeurs, categoriser les débris, les peser, en faire la liste et en disposer de manière approprié.

Une Décharge de Responsabilité devra être signée par tous les participants.

Tous les débris seront redirigés pour le recyclage ou autres dispositions appropriées.
