The river was clear of most light material as this would be swept downstream with the fast moving current.

Plastic bags - entanglement hazards for trout, catfish and koura

Bottles - broken create a hazard for swimmers

This was a great clean up to do with a group of enthusiastic and fun divers at a great dive site. I was pleased to see that - despite the stretch of the Waikato River that we dived being only a few minutes from the centre of town - the river was surprisingly clean.
