Comments and Feedback
We have been living in Nuweiba, Egypt, for one year now and always noticed the Bedouins'/ Egyptians' special relationship to their shoes. when they get angry with someone they take their shoes off and throw them at each other. When a shoe breaks they leave them in the streets. Fascinated by the amounts of shoes everywhere in this little desert village we did a show collection. We were very surprised to find 235 shoes and 3 fins in the short time of 20 mins! The Egyptians and Bedouins were wondering what we were doing and thought we were mad to remove the shoes from the streets and put them in the bin. the told us we can leave them in the streets just like all the other rubbish. We have to let you know that there definitely is a rubbish problem here, mainly plastic. Everything is just thrown everywhere, and burnt or covered with another layer of sand if necessary. Hard mission to change that habit. we did beach clean ups and underwater clean ups, basically on every dive we take whatever we can find, just did not have the time to report everything. Unfortunately we are leaving Nuweiba and moving to Marsa alam, where we will continue our clean ups with Emperor Divers there. Please do not publish this message. good luck with your effords, Tarkan and Kathrin
