Sanur channel is close to the beach and the reef surrounding the channel is very shallow so it is a popular area for local anglers to wade out and fish; we believe this is why we found so many fishing lines as these are not the cast offs from industrial fishing. Also any take away food or drinks purchased in Bali seem to come with their own individual plastic bag including soft drinks that are actually poured into plastic bags for take away so the cafe/ food stall can return the glass bottles. I think that much of the plastic and food wrappers is the remains of fishermens lunch!
