Dive Team: Liss Held, Stefan Held, Gareth Bowen, Jamie Gladwin, Sabine Henkel. We had UW photographer Gareth Bowen with us and he contributed the last 4 pictures with subtitles: Picture "is broken" : The plastic bottle seal says it all: We broke it! But let's try to fix it :) Picture "plastic fragments": Macro photography used to highlight and collect "macro" plastic fragments. Turtles don't know the difference and eat plastics and cigarette butts, blocking their digestive system which kills them slowly... Comment on Picture of cigarette butt: "If you smoke (I do), then please don't discard your butts on the beach, near storm drains or anywhere else where they can make their way into the ocean - everyone loves turtles, right ?! This cigarette butt is made of plastics and will take decades to decompose if it is not eaten by unsuspecting marine life first."
