The fish practically swam into my mask as we were just beginning the survey. It stayed still once I grasped it and allowed me to calmly and slowly remove the lure and release without struggle. Video of the release at this link : https://vimeo.com/298829310
My last survey was Aug. 29th. I had an event planned for mid September. We have 9 volunteer divers all ready to have the very first mass cleanup. Yet due to rough seas in the previous days, even though surf conditions that day were bearable, the visibility was so bad (not even 1 meter) that I would not allow the volunteers (all of whom have never dived on that site, nor done a DAD survey) to dive due to the dangers of the rocky reef..and called off the dive that morning. Since then, every weekend until this survey has been too rough to conduct a survey!
Note: Two of the fishing traps (traps for eels) are not pictured.
