WSORC Snorkel Clean-up, October 11th 2014

updates

A hugely successful snorkel clean up today with WSORC interns Louise and Kevin, and Volunteers Jan and Ashlyn! Thank you very much guys for turning up and helping to remove a massive 50lbs of debris from Utila Harbour. There was a lot of excitement around the discovery of a mantis shrimp amongst the plastic bottles, who was released back in to the water unharmed. The main items collected were plastic bottles, aluminum cans and plastic bags/fragments. This is a common theme in Utila Harbour due to the presence of bars and restaraunts along the waterfront, many of which have poor waste disposal in place.

Thanks again to everybody that helped out, it was a great morning!
