3 Tables North Shore Beach Cleanup

updates

When I was a growing up, my father would always repeat the phrase: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."  Today we tried to apply an ounce of prevention by picking up pieces of pollution on the beach at 3 Tables Beach Park on North Shore, Hawaii.

This beach is very busy during the summer and ends up with a lot of debris from picnics and swimming debris.

Our top finds were candy wrappers, and snorkel gear abandoned in the sand along with other small plastic debris.

Many divers and beach goers started to help our teams pick up debris despite not being part of the official cleanup.  This sudden assistance from people who did not originally plan to clean up a beach showed the level of influence seeing others apply an ounce of prevention can quickly turn into much more.
