Clean-up dive Hin Wong Bay
On the 25th of September the Sunshine boat went out with the DMT crew for a proper clean-up dive! Locatioan was Hin Wong bay just north-east of the island.
Within a 60 minute dive the crew collected between 30 and 40kg’s of rubbish, which included; 109 plastic bottles, 83 plastic bags, 36 plastic lids, 19 flip flops and other general waste. We will be going back there in the next couple of weeks to conduct further clean up dives as there is still more trash to be collected.
Hin Wong Bay is an ideal spot for snorkelelers and beginner divers. This means that from time to time the bay is full with different kind of boats even visiting from the neighbouring islands Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. Also when the prevailing winds are coming from the southwest the bay is a shelter for many fisherman boats from around the island. Unfortunately this means that there can be a lot of debris in the water. Enough reasons to go back soon and keep our ocean clean!
