Open Water students passing with flying colours.

updates

Gemma from England and Kerry from South Africa just competed their Padi Open Water here at Simply the best, Simple Life Divers.

The guys rocked up here for their Orientation on day one. They sat and watched the first couple of Padi Open Water videos to help the guys get an insight of the course and what they could expect in the following days ahead.

The next morning we arranged for the team to meet up for 10:00am and spend some time in the morning going over some theory work. This helped the guys gain some useful knowledge of the different aspect of diving such as how pressure of the water effects the human body, the meaning of good buoyancy control and the importance of all health and saftey procedures.
In the afternoon we made our way to Japanese gardens where the guys had to pratice setting up their equipment and making sure everything was checked before heading into the water. The guys also had to do a 200 metre swim and a 10 mintue suvival float.

After a briefing we headed to a shallow area of Japanese Gardens where we had the opportunity to practise a varity of underwater skills to help the team get use to their equipment and all the skill requirements before doing their first ever dives. The guys had a little trouble at first with the mask skills (yes I mean you Kerry) but with a bit of patience and pratice they started to get into the flow of things and managed to clear the mask.

In the afternoon we went and made our way to Japenese Gardens and Twins, the visability was a healthy 15 metres. The guys really enjoyed seeing the corals and many other marine life and were now full of confidence and eager to start for their second dive of the day. For the second dive we headed to White Rock and again the visability was great, this time aswell the guys were more relaxed and enjoyed themselves to the full.

On the final day we went to White Rock and Hin Pee Wee where the visability was really special for this time of year and managed to see the HMS Sattakkut from the surface. The guys had a few skills to do at deeper depths the team really did do well to overcome any anixety and passed with flying colours. The fourth and final dive was back at White Rock where we all made our way down to 18 metres, the course limit.

In the evening we all met and had some cold beers at the Simple Life Resort to celebrate the completion of their Open Water Course.
