July Update #2 Dive Against Debris - Sand Harbor State Park Lake Tahoe Nevada

updates

Well it has been amazing at Lake Tahoe this summer so we decided to do a second Debris Removal dive at Sand Harbor State Park in July.  I am so pleased with the noticable impact our efforts have been having in our survey area.  We had four divers removing debris and it was an effort for them to locate debris to remove.  This is GREAT news for us as Project AWARE Debris Removal Divers becuase our previous dives have made such a difference in lowering the amount of debris in our survey area.  This is real evidence that making every dive count makes a huge difference in protecting our marine environments from damage caused by debris.

Our four divers were able to remove two pounds of marine debris between the two buddy teams.  GREAT job by our newest PADI Debris Removal Divers.  We will continue our efforts in our current survey area at Sand Harbor; however, we are going to start looking for another area were we can start clearing out the marine debris.

If anybody has a suggestion of a site at Lake Tahoe for us to start focusing on message me at Scuba Steve Schultz on Facebook, through ScubaEarth or leave a comment here on my BLOG.
