Not 1, Not 2 BUT 26!!

updates

Yesterday diving out on the House Reef with one student I was disappointed to notice that a huge amount of plastic bottles had once again accumulated. In total my student and I managed to recover 26 of the small plastic drinking bottles. Almost all of the bottles still had lids screwed on and each lid had a small hole drilled into the top of it. Fish feeding. The bottles come from snorkelling boats and other tourist boats using the area. It's such a shame that the local people who make money from tourists experiencing swimming with fish are so short sighted that they throw their waste into the very water that produces their income. The issue of plastic bottles on the island is growing in direct proportion with the tourism industry - it's getting bigger. I'm currently trying to take the bull by the horns and formulate plans to disseminate into the local community to make Lembongan a plastic free paradise!
