Sam's Tours & Royal Belau Yacht Club Mooring Harbour Earth Day Clean Up Event

updates

Earth Day!  Sunday 22nd April!  What a great day to save the planet!

The sun was shining.  We had around 65 volunteers from pathfinders, RBYC yachties, Sam's Tours guests, plus staff assistance from both Sam's Tours and Planet Blue.  Really an enormous volunteer possie gathering at Sam's Tours in the morning.  We headed out just after 10am in kayaks and dinghies or just dropped in off the docks, and successfully hauled over 700lbs of trash out of the harbour in less than two hours.  The range of garbage was anything from a tiny can pull, to something as large as a car tyre, and of course there was a huge amount of cans and bottles picked up.  A massive thank you to all the volunteers who donated their time, to Sam's Tours and Planet Blue for the use of their services, and to the Environment Quality Protection Bureau for arranging the garbage bags and pick up.  This fantastic team effort by all ensured our first clean up event for 2012 was a smashing success, and we look forward to our next clean up event later in the year which will be focusing on a number of beaches out in the rock islands.

Again a big thank you to everyone from the team at RBYC, and I'm pretty sure that mother nature thanks you too :)
