Finathon 2016 Pez Maya

updates

Earlier this month we completed a marine debris clean up at two dive sites removing over 70 meters of rope and fishing hooks!

Also this month has seen Pez Maya’s first Finathon event.  Staff have been educating volunteers over the last two weeks through presentations and documentaries. The knowledge gained was put to the test in a treasure hunt that saw teams having to answer questions, follow clues, complete forfeits and race to the finish line. A shark sand building competition saw volunteers battling it out to gain the most Facebook likes to earn extra points. Alongside these events we had costume making, shark fin design and relay races amongst various other races and games.

Through teaching our volunteers that these clean ups and Finathons are available for anyone to set up and get involved with just by checking out the Project AWARE website we hope they will go on to arrange future events and clean ups wherever their futures may take them.

Our Just Giving fundraising page will still be live for a couple more weeks!
