Malta Try Tag Rugby Tour – An Amazing Success!

updates

I’m pleased to report that London based Try Tag Rugby’s first tour to Malta earlier this month was an astounding success!

Our 15 strong group headed over to Malta to take part in the 2011 Malta International Tag Rugby Festival, and returned undefeated, beating French outfit, Montpellier 5-2 in the final.

The inaugural tournament which was played at Victor Tedesco stadium in Hamrun, Malta (6 August) had seven teams vying for the title. The Maltese weather didn’t disappoint with matches played out in 34 degree temperatures.

Along the way the All-Stars defeated Black & Yellow 28-0, 100% ME 22-0 and the Aussie Ex-Pats 18-2 in the semi-final. London Australia representative, Belinda Walmsley was named, “Player of the Final” with London New Zealand representative, Shay Wilson being named “Player of the Tournament”.

Before the tournament, many of us spent a few days on the beautiful little island of Gozo; where I made arrangements with Atlantis Dive Centre for 3 of us spending an amazing days diving , and for a further 7 of the team to spend the morning on a Try Dive seeing the underwater world up close and personal, in all its glory.

I’m also glad to report that this went down a storm and we’ve now got some new recruits on the dive scene who will be are keen to promote the marine environment – happy diving guys!
