Underwater Cleanup at Wied iż-Żurrieq, Qrendi, Malta

updates

Dear friends,

Thanks to all. Today we’ve spent a fun day and all for a good cause. Thank you thank you thank you.

Started off by a load of tires, fishing net, metal pipes, even half a drum! And of course lots and lots of bottles, cans, and pieces of metal chains to make a final debris load of approximately 1043kg. Never would have managed without you all. I refrain from mentioning names cause I’d be terribly sorry if I miss somebody out but some special thanks must go to:

David Schembri and Chris Falzon from Qrendi Local Council – your support on land was really encouraging

Lina Fabri from Subway Dive Centre – for offering scuba tanks without hesitations, your presence made the event stronger

Rita Vella from Diveshack Scuba School – as always ready to offer her help completely although Joe gave us a really hard time

Gordon Polidano from Polidano Brothers – your help with Fawwara water kept the event coooooool

Qrendi Scout Group – the meaning of a scout was overpowering

ZAK Malta – for pulling out from the sea anything that we ledged onto the line

Leonard Sammut – for his phone calls to gather as much divers as possible

Anna, Matthew, Patrick – for pulling out the fishing net and for dropping off tanks after the dive

Nicky, Ivan – as always hard workers and ready for everything

James, Rodney, Alan, Thomas, Mario F., Felix, Mario G., Aldo, Michael – for being underwater environmental ambassadors

Finally I would like to thank Priscilla for keeping track and record for whatever was uplifted.

And master Joseph Julian Fenech for carrying tanks after the dive.

We are still waiting for the photographer to send us the pictures. As soon as I’ll have them I’ll forward them to you and they will be also posted on facebook.

Thanks again for making the day a memorable one.
