NZ Dolphin Underwater and Adventure Club - Annual Beach Cleanup part of GUWAA

28th September - Saturday 9am - Waiake Beach Cleanup - This is part of the GLOBAL UNDER-WATER AWARENESS ASSOCIATION "Clean waters for a greener World" GUWAA World 2nd Underwater Protection and Clean Up Day - and going in the World Guinness Book of Records for the most people underwater at the same time Worldwide. (Over 90 Countries will participate. The participants will clean seas, lakes, and rivers world wide. They will clean all types of waste (plastic, car tyres, batteries, glass, cans, rusty iron, textile etc) from the sea lake and river beds.  The divers will use scuba tanks and scuba equipment.  There will also be free-divers participating in the cleanup.  The goal is to pick up as much waste as possible from the sea, lake, and river beds, to unite all continents in non-political action; to popularise ecology and water protection activities, to educate and make people aware of the exising problem.  This event is organised in partnership with Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Bernie Ecclestone, CEO of Formula 1 Administration, and Yacht Club of Monaco).   The NZ DOLPHIN UNDERWATER AND ADVENTURE CLUB will be diving Torbay and Waiake Beaches including the reef around The Tor, and the Browns Bay Reef.  We will clean up the Deep Creek River and the shoreline towards Browns Bay on the North Shore of Auckland.  There will be several support boats and the Council will remove the rubbish after the clean up.  It is low tide a 7.14am everyone is welcome, bring the family as there is plenty of beach and rock to clean up as well, followed by a BBQ.
