DEERFIELD ISLAND CLEAN UP- EARTH DAY

updates

Celebrating Earth Day 2013, on Saturday, April 20th, from 9:00am to 12:00 noon, Dixie Divers and Island Water Sports along with the City of Deerfield Beach and the Broward County Department of Parks and Recreation conducted the 1st Annual Earth Day Deerfield Beach Island Park clean up.

The event brought in volunteers on kayaks and paddle boards going around the island picking up any garbage that had drifted onto shore. Dixie Divers and Island Water Sports will assisted on kayaks and paddle boards to coordinate the cleanup. Dixie Divers had volunteers on small water craft transport the trash that is collected and bring it back to the dock at Sullivan Park. From there the Deerfield Beach Recycling Division took over and processed the collected debris.

The cleanup was a great event for the community showing the pride of Deerfield Beach residents and its surrounding areas. It was also a good opportunity for young adults to get community service hours for their work.

Thank you all for honoring Earth Day.
