Keep Collier Beautiful (KCB) teams up with Project Aware thanks to Lauren Wiskerson in July of 2011.  I joined the KCB team as Executive Director at that time. 

KCB’s encourages individuals to take a greater responsibility for their environment.  This is accomplished in one way by participating in cleanups along the coast lines, bays, canals and water ways that lead to the Gulf. 

My 1st opportunity to be involved was with the International coastal cleanup, hosted by the Ocean Conservancy on September 17th 2011.  Over 900 volunteers were involved and one special group (Collier County Sheriff’s Marine Division) cleaned the Santa Lucia Reef.  The reef is located in 28’ of water approximately 2.5 miles West of Gordon’s Pass.  The dive team unfortunately was a success by collecting over 500 pounds of debris.  More could have been collected but the boat was loaded.
