Clean-Up Rhodes

updates

Clean-Up Rhodes is a social media (facebook) group and page I created for the island of Rhodes-Greece.

This page was created to promote the Clean-Up events that take place on the island of Rhodes.  In the current climate our island does not have any funding for the councils to clean our villages, beaches or seas.

The Clean-Up events can consists of village/resort clean-ups, beach clean-ups and also underwater clean-up events.

Clean-Up events have been organised at some of the islands beaches and seas by myself and some of the Waterhoppers staff over the past years, however I feel that we now have a further need to get more people involved in cleaning up of local villages too.

In the past our beach and underwater clean-ups have been localised and not widely promoted.  The new Clean-up Rhodes page and group is now to make everyone aware of the events.

Clean-Up Rhodes has been set up to help promote any clean-up events, educate people and promote environmental awareness on Rhodes.

The Clean-Up Rhodes facebook page and group gives everyone an idea of how the clean-ups work in each local area.  The page gives people the photographs of what action has been taken and the outcome of the clean-up event.

The aim is to educate everyone young and old, ex-pats and locals within each and every community.  They can direct questions via the group and page for them to initiate their own clean-up event.

The Clean-Up Rhodes program is also giving everyone on Rhodes the opportunity of working together to help keep our island clean, which also helps with the tourism we receive.

This Clean-Up Rhodes page was created by myself and I initiated our first village clean-up to promote what a difference one clean-up event can make.  With the help of 13 volunteers from my village, with 2 hours of work each, we collected 70 bags of rubbish.
