Top Project AWARE Environmental Dive Center in the Americas for 2013

updates

At Langley Diving, we really care about the environment and this year PADI and Project AWARE has recognized that. Drew Richardson, CEO of PADI worldwide presented our very own Les Newman with the award for outstanding achievement on behalf of the environment.

We are very proud of our contributions to the environment and would like to thank YOU our customers for all your support, as well as our Project AWARE coordinator Robbin Knox.

So how did the Langley Diving community win this award? Well, that's easy! We;

Host two annual underwater clean ups with BBQs that our divers make enormously successful

Are 100% AWARE, meaning we donate $10 per certification processed to Project AWARE

Host Finathons to fight shark fining

Have a donation bowl for Project AWARE that our fantastic customers keep full

Support environmental petitions banning such things as shark finning

.....and more

At the same event, Les was able to make yet another donation to Project AWARE for over $200 from two of our recent events:

On behalf of the Fraser Valley Scouts, Les presented $140, which represented a $1 donation for each Scout who tried diving during the October 2013 Fall Kick-off Camp. The cheque also included over $60 raised from our 'Pennies for Project AWARE' Bowl.  With a few nickels, dimes and quarters for good measure, nearly 6,000 pennies were donated - useless in Canada - but useful to Project AWARE.

As you can see, winning this award has very much been a group effort, so we would once again like to thank all our divers, customers and volunteers that have made this possible. Great job every one!
