Dive Day with HEPCA, Project AWARE and PADI

updates

Join me in celebrating our shared passion for diving and ocean protection by taking part in a PADI Dive Day event with HEPCA and Project AWARE.

Open to all PADI 5-Star Dive centers in Hurghada, El Gouna and beyond, this event is taking place on the 4th of February. The participating dive centres will leave from the Hurghada Tourist Marina in the morning and conduct clean-ups and Dive Against Debris surveys around Magawish Island. After the clean-up a social is organized in the marina. People participating in Dive Day will receive a free Project AWARE certification and PADI Members joining the event will receive a free t-shirt.

As a PADI Professional and experienced diver, I've seen first hand the negative impacts marine litter can have on fragile marine habitats but I've also seen the positive impacts awareness and community events such as Dive Day can have for their protection.  I take ocean conservation to heart and I'm excited to do my part to support Project AWARE's Dive Against Debris campaign and contribute marine debris data to the global Dive Against Debris Map as part of this event. All participating PADI 5-Star dive centres who want to conduct a Dive Against Debris survey during Dive Day should check out the Dive Against Debris Survey Coordinator Kit. The kit includes the must have materials and dowloadable resources you need to successfully complete a Dive Against Debris survey. Orsi Fulop, Project AWARE Outreach and Development coordinator will join the event and will assist with our Dive Against Debris surveys.

I would like to thank all the dive centres who have already confirmed their participation and support for this event. Thanks go to HEPCA for their ongoing environmental actions to protect the Red Sea and for supporting Dive Day. I wish you all a very successful PADI Dive Day and look forward to joining in the action!
