Pulau Hantu Cleanup
Singapore known as the sunny island, should have beautiful beaches and clear blue waters surrounding the shores. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Visibility in water around Singapore can be rather poor but that does not mean we are short of any marine life! In fact, we are rather proud of our bio-diversity!
Given that one of our popular dive sites is located next to an oil refinery (Probably one of its kind), we do get thrash floating/drifting around the Pulau Hantu Dive site. As an instructor, my role is to impart scuba diving skills to my students. However, as an activist for the environment, I teach my students beyond skills. I focus on environmental conservation and education with my team and make sure that students understand the importance of the small actions that they do.
Instead of organizing massive beach cleanups, we promise to make every dive, a mini clean up. Divers dive around the world daily, everywhere and anywhere. If we can just pick up the litter on the way up, how easy and scalable can this be!
Together, let's do our part for the ocean as DIVERS and do what we can!
