The Diver Clinic

The Diver Clinic, in Poole, Dorset is one of the top specialist centres in the UK offering medical support for divers, covering a range of associated conditions such as decompression illness (the bends) and offers a ‘Hyperbaric Chamber treatments’ where oxygen is administered. Set up in 1984, the clinic works alongside the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, as well as Poole Hospital and Dorset Ambulance, working with a quick response team, where casualties are brought in by helicopter.

On becoming a sponsor for The Great British Dive, the Diver Clinic manager Spencer Phillips said

“At The Diver Clinic we are absolutely delighted to be on board with The Great British Dive.  As well as hoping to break the record, all the proceeds will be going to very deserving charities so please support the event and sign up to participate for your chance to be a record breaker!”

When Jason started planning The Great British Dive, The Diver Clinic was naturally top of the list for a sponsor, as their level of medical expertise is well established in the UK. Jason has spent many months looking at risk assessment, working in partnership with the local council and additional local groups to make sure all eventualities are covered.

“We are absolutely delighted to have The Diver Clinic on board, naturally with any outdoor event there is an element of risk, in open water every second counts for divers should they get into trouble. Having such a specialist medical team from The Diver Clinic means, we are now fully supported.  Anyone taking part (and the general public) can also have reassurance that we are attracting the best in the business, to ensure The Great British Dive will be a top class event.”

Jason’s dream to break the World Record and bringing 3,000+ divers to Swanage Bay is fast becoming the event of the year.

“It is actually beginning to take over almost every waking moment, everyone seems to be talking about it, and we even appeared in the Indian Times!”  “But there is still an awful lot of preparation to do, the main thrust now being to get everyone to take up the challenge, and to register so we make our target of 3,000+ and beat the Egyptian attempt.”
