Earlier this month we held our regular Beach Cleanup on Serasa Beach, right on the dive centre's doorstep. We are lucky here in Brunei in the sense that most of our dive sites have relatively little underwater debris on them; it is mainly floating debris that washes up on our beaches that is the problem.

Serasa Beach suffers greatly from this, with new debris being washed ashore every tide. On our Cleanup we gathered mostly plastic debris, ranging from larger items such as laundry liquid containers and a children's play table, to smaller items such as takeaway containers and food wrappers.

It can be disheartening to see new debris being washed ashore every day, but we know that our regular Cleanups do make a difference.
