Beach Clean Up with Oceans 5 Gili Air

updates

Do you know what the impact is of plastic in the ocean? Do you know that in 2050 all the sea birds will eat plastic? Do you know there are 3 islands of plastic in the oceans as big as the state of Texas in the USA?

Plastic is one of the biggest environmental proiblem at this moment. Almost everything is made of plastic or packed in plastic when you buy a product. Even when we are going to a shopping mall our products are given in a plastic bag.

But where does this plastic go?

Here on Gili Air there is a lot of plastic in the harbor. Why? In the morning when the persons are waiting for their fastboat to Baliu they take a bite of a snack, like a snikker or they are taking a sip of their water bottle. Most of the time this pastic doesnt end up in the bins, but on the beach where it dissapears when the tide comes up.

Oceans 5 wants to create more awareness for the environment and what the impact is of all this plastic. That is why Oceans 5 organizes every week a beach clean up with their total staff. Everone can join. And the best part, IT IS FREE!

The plastic and rubbish will be collected and send to the main island, Lombok, where an incinerator is. It is still not the best solution but at this time it is better than nothing.
