Yesterday we received a very much  welcome piece of equipment for Dive Tribes forthcoming laboratory and classrooms which will be located here in Pattaya.  The piece of equipment in question was an Autoclave which was sent to us free of charge by Getinge Skarhamn AB in Sweden.(http://www.skarhamn.getinge.com/).
This piece of equipment will be used for our micro biology classes which will be organised by Dr Phillips and Laird Allan both biologist/ecologist working at Mahidol University international college. 

The autoclave is essentially a device used to sterilize equipment and supplies by subjecting them to high pressure saturated steam at 121 °Cfor around 15–20 minutes depending on  the size of the load and its contents.
Typical loads include laboratory glassware, other equipment and waste, surgical instruments.
They are sometimes used in industry to cure products such as vulcanised rubber.

Getinge Skarhamn AB happen to be one of the leading autoclave manufacturing companies and have been building sterilizers since 1949.  As with most of the companies DT are sponsored by they have a keen interest in what we are trying to achieve here in Thailand as regard to the marine conservation and research goes.

We would like to thank Getinge for this most useful piece of equipment but it doesn't stop there !!

Getinge have also stepped up and offered a generous donation to sponsor one of the mooring buoys in our mooring buoy project. The firsts test for the project have been completed and we are awaiting on confirmation of our GPS locations by the DMCR (Department of Marine & Coastal Resources) so we can get started in June.
