Club Dive March 2016

updates

Saturday was a great day to take 2 tourists out for some fun dives in our Taputeranga Marine Reserve along the South Coast. The sun was shining and there were plenty of fish around including a school of mullet, blue moki, crayfish and cheeky blue cod.

As usual I tend to pick up any rubbish as I am swimming past but on this dive one of my divers pointed out an old piece of rope netting that had obviously been used as a weighting device at some point. It was too heavy to lift so I indicated he should cut the trailing rope off and leave the rest there.

They were not keen on that idea and when you are 6'5" you can give something an almighty tug. We may have lost visibility but we were able to cut the net free from surrounding rocks and remove it from the ocean.

Another successful and slightly more eventful dive accomplished.
